First-generation limit to Canadian citizenship by descent ends
The definition of who is Canadian just got broader as the Government of Canada has decided not to appeal the decision that strikes down the first-generation limit to Canadian citizenship by descent.
Like many in the profession, I await clarification on the definition of “substantial connection to Canada” coming out of Bjorkquist et al. v. Attorney General of Canada, 2023 ONSC 7152.
